Cassandra Clare was born in Teheran, Iran in 1973 to American parents. Her family travelled quite a bit during her childhood before settling in Los Angeles during high school. Since she travelled so much she fell in love with books from an early age. After college, Cassandra lived in Los Angeles and New York working at entertainment magazines. She started working on her first YA novel City of Bones in 2004 and began writing full-time in 2006. She has authored seven novel series, three novella series and one solo book. Her bestselling books have come from the Shadowhunter Chronicles, consisting of seventeen books.
