The Myth of Pandora

There are many versions of this myth. However, some facts remain true. When man was created, they were denied the gift of fire by Zeus as it was only meant for the gods. Prometheus disagreed with this. He cared for men, enough to steal fire from Hephaestus and gift it to them. As punishment, Zeus ordered Hephaestus to mould the first woman, and the other gods bestowed gifts upon her. One of which was a jar that had been filled with all the evils of the world. Pandora was the one to open this jar and set them free where they tortured humanity. The evils that were released were Illness, Violence, Deceit, Misery and Want, with Hope remaining in the jar.
